Governor-General visits Nelson-Tasman

The Governor-General, Sir Anand Satyanand and Lady Susan Satyanand will arrive in Nelson on Tuesday 11 May, where they will commence a four-day regional visit. This is the Governor-General’s most extensive visit to the Nelson-Tasman area.

Sir Anand and Lady Susan will begin the trip by a formal welcome at Whakatū Marae in Nelson. Their four-day visit will include visits to Waimea College, Golden Edge Pine Industries, and Port Nelson. Sir Anand will also plant a tree in recognition of 75 years of CCS Disability Action in Nelson.

Tuesday 11 May 2010:
9.30am Sir Anand and Lady Susan are welcomed onto Whakatū Marae.

1.30pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit NIWA.

2.45pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit Nelson Provincial Museum.

5.30pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan attend a Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce networking meeting hosted by Hampidjan NZ Ltd.

Wednesday 12 May 2010:
9.00am Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit Waimea College and Job Track.

1.30pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit the Cawthron Institute.

3.45pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit Nutrizeal

6.30pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan host a Mayoral Dinner at Hopgoods Restaurant. [No media]
 
Thursday 13 May 2010:
9.30am Sir Anand visits Golden Edge Nelson Pine Industries.

10.20am Lady Susan attends a morning tea with the Nelson Federation of Women’s Institutes.

12.00pm  Lady Susan hosts a lunch for Nelson Business Women, Boat Shed Café. [No media]

1.45pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan plant a tree for CCS Disability Action - 75 Years Celebration.

2.45pm Lady Susan visit the Nelson Environment Centre.

3.00pm Sir Anand visits Port Nelson.

3.40pm Lady Susan visits two local Brownie units

4.35pm Lady Susan tours the newly renovated Theatre Royal.

6.30pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan host a Patronage Reception at the Rutherford Hotel. [No Media]

Friday 14 May 2010:
9.15am Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit Upper Moutere School.

11.00am Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit the Japanese Teahouse in Motueka.

1.00pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan visit the Abel Tasman National Park

6.00pm Sir Anand and Lady Susan attend the YMCA Convention and AGM at the WOW Museum.
