The Foundation for Youth Development will celebrate the achievements of nine special graduates from its flagship programme, Project K at the Project K Student Excellence Awards at Government House Auckland on September 18.

The awards, now in their eighth year will be officiated by Foundation for Youth Development Patron, Her Excellency Mrs Susan Satyanand, and will be an opportunity to reward the graduates who have demonstrated the philosophy and values of Project K and excelled in the programme.

Project K aims to maximise the potential of Year 10 students (4th form) through a 14 month programme that involves a Wilderness Adventure, Community Challenge and 12 months of mentoring.  Participants are specifically selected for a sought after place on the programme based on their realised, yet untapped potential for excellence.

Emily Kay an award recipient from Project K Waikato says: "It (Project K) has been a life changing experience, giving me the opportunity to break out of my shell and become more confident and out-going in everything I do."

As part of the Project K Student Excellence Awards the nine Graduates, accompanied by their caregivers and Project K mentors, will be treated to a challenging and action packed filled day before attending the official ceremony in the evening.
