The achievements of New Zealanders across a wide spectrum of fields will be celebrated at Investiture Ceremonies at Government House Wellington this week.

The achievements of New Zealanders across a wide spectrum of fields will be celebrated at Investiture Ceremonies at Government House Wellington this week.

The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, will host four ceremonies at 10.30am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week (September 2—5).  Those to be invested include soccer professional Wynton Rufer, composer Gillian Whitehead, Mori leader Wira Gardiner, entertainer David McPhail and opera singer Dame Malvina Major.  Decorations to Police officers for bravery will also be awarded.

Media wanting to attend must seek accreditation from the Public Affairs Officer, Antony Paltridge, on 04 382 0827 or 021 470 583 no later than 9am on the day of the ceremony.

Tuesday 2 September 10.30am:

  • Gail Collingwood, Nelson, QSO, for services to local government and women.
  • Dr Martin Sullivan, Palmerston North, QSO, for services to people with disabilities
  • Professor Brian Brooks, Lower Hutt, ONZM, for services to education.
  • Jeremy Moon, Wellington, MNZM, for services to business

Wednesday 3 September 10.30am:

  • Gillian Karawe Whitehead, Dunedin, DCNZM, for services to music
  • Professor Richard Beasley, Wellington, CNZM, for services to medical research
  • Wynton Rufer, Auckland, CNZM, for services to soccer.
  • David McPhail, Christchurch, ONZM, for services to television and the theatre
  • Sue Carty, Wellington, MNZM, for services to journalism
  • Simon Edwards, Wellington, MNZM, for services to journalism

Thursday 4 September 10.30am:
