Waitangi Day Garden Reception Ballot information

Each year, on 6 February, the Governor-General hosts a garden reception to mark Waitangi Day.

To ensure as many New Zealanders as possible get the opportunity to spend part of Waitangi Day at Government House, a public ballot is held for invitations to the event.

The garden party generally alternates between Auckland and Wellington but sometimes, as was the case last year, it may be held in the same city two years in a row. The location for the garden party in 2021 is still to be decided.

Due to Covid-19 precautions, there will be no ballot for the 2021 Waitangi Day Garden Reception.
