Government House Auckland is not open to the public but tours of the gardens can be arranged by contacting the Government House Wellington Visitor Centre. We do not run tours at Auckland between May and September because of winter weather impacting the grounds.
Tours are guided and dependent on garden staff availability. The tours do not include the interior of the house. Our paths have stairs and are hilly. All participants on a garden tour must have good fitness and mobility and be able to walk and stand for 90 minutes. There is no opportunity to 'sit-out' for part of a tour. Please contact us in advance if you have questions about access/mobility: [email protected]
Groups of 7-15 people are welcome to contact us to arrange a private garden tour. These can only take place on a Thursday morning, when the house is not in use and will not be booked over the winter months.
2024 public tour dates
Please email [email protected] with the tour you wish to join. Your email must include the full names and ages of everyone in your group (no more than 6 people please), and a contact address and phone number for the booking (mobile preferred). We will email you to confirm your booking and send you entry information. Places are limited and we will run a waitlist for tours if they book out.

Arrival information
There are three entrances to Government House Auckland. You will be notified as to which gate to use.
Most guests attending events or arriving for tours enter through the gate at the end of Savannah St (near the entrance to Eden Gardens), which is off Omana Rd. The staff and goods entrance is via 14 Glenfell Place. The gate at Mountain Road is generally only used for VIP access.
There is no public parking available onsite.
Please note: Government House Auckland is not available for hire as a venue for private events or as a location for wedding photography.
