Men's coxless pair race
New Zealanders Eric Murray and Hamish Bond, defending their world title, head for the finish line.  The pair beat the Britons Peter Reed and Andrew Triggs Hodge, overhauling the Great British pair in the final 500m to win by just 50cm in a thrilling finish. In the background can be seen the Greek pair of Georgios Tziallas and Ioannis Christou who lead at the start but eventually finished third.
