Dr Kevin Trenberth, of Auckland, CNZM, for services to geophysics
Dr Kevin Trenberth is a scientist who is world-renowned in the field of climate variability and climate change. He holds several Fellowships and is a Distinguished Scholar at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research in Colorado and an honorary affiliate faculty member at the University of Auckland. He was a lead author of three Scientific Assessment of Climate Change reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, sharing in the Panel’s 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, as well as receiving many awards for his own work. He served on several groups within the World Climate Research Programme. He chaired the Global Energy and Water Exchanges scientific steering group. Dr Trenberth has published more than 590 scientific articles or papers, including 70 books or book chapters, and is highly cited.
