Mr Mark Crompton, of Hokitika, MNZM, for services to meteorology and the community
Mark Crompton worked for the Meteorological Service of New Zealand as a weather observer from 1967 to 2012.
His career was focused on expeditions to remote Campbell and Raoul Islands, where he lived in isolation while undertaking surface and upper air observations.
While on sub-Antarctic Campbell Island he volunteered his off-duty time to carry out fieldwork with the albatrosses and penguins, as well as effecting botanical and microclimatological projects at the island.
