Thomas Gerrard
Thomas Gerrard, of Auckland, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to education. Mr Gerrard has been Principal of Auckland’s Rosmini College for 35 years, making him one of New Zealand’s longest-serving principals. He is highly regarded for the inspired leadership he has provided to generations of young men, and for the strong mentoring role he plays for other principals. Under Mr Gerrard’s leadership, Rosmini College has undergone major improvements in its buildings and grounds. Educationally, Rosmini College has produced outstanding results, both academically and in extra-curricular activities. A former executive of the Auckland Secondary School Heads Association, he was a referee for appointments and assessment of teachers. He is also active in the community and has been a Justice of the Peace for many years.
