Sir Colin Giltrap, KNZM, Auckland
For services to motorsport and philanthropy. Sir Colin Giltrap has contributed to the motor industry and the community for more than 40 years. He established the motor industry company Giltrap Group Holdings. He was the owner of the New Zealand franchise of the A1 Grand Prix World Cup of Motorsport and successfully secured rounds of the A1 series in New Zealand, and worked to retain the V8 Supercar series in New Zealand. In 2005 Sir Colin was the winner of the New Zealand Automobile Association of Motoring Excellence Award for his outstanding contribution to motoring. He was also the recipient of the New Zealand Automotive Supreme Award in 2006, and the New Zealand Motorsport Personality of the Year in 2007.
Sir Colin is Patron of the McLaren Trust. He has supported and mentored numerous young drivers, many of whom have gone on to successful international driving careers. He is one of the major sponsors of the Sky City Symphony in the Park in Auckland and is currently a major sponsor of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Sir Colin was a substantial contributor to the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal and has sponsored and contributed to many other sporting events and charities, including the Starship Foundation.
