Mr Richard Waddel, ONZM, Auckland.
For services to corporate governance. Mr Richard Waddel has held a number of governance positions in health, the arts, sport and education. He was Chair of the Pharmac board from 2000 to 2010, and was the Chair of the Auckland District Health Board. He led the Auckland DHB when the major rebuilding of the hospital campus commenced. He was an appointed member of the Canterbury and Healthlink South DHBs. He was the Director and Chair of the audit committee of the Auckland Regional Transport Authority, and held a similar role in Infrastructure Auckland. Mr Waddel was the Chair of the Aotea Centre Board of Management, and served three terms as the Chair of the Auckland Festival Trust. He was a member of the Foundation for the School of Population Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Auckland and the Director of the Environmental Defence Society. He was the Vice-President of the Wellington Rugby Football Union, and is a life member of the Old Boys University Rugby Club, Wellington. Mr Waddel was Ernst & Young’s Chief Executive from 1986 to 1995, and was a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Directors.
