Rosemary Acland, Peel Forest, QSM, for services to the community
Mrs Rosemary Acland has been Chair of the Rangitata Gorge Landcare Group since 1998. In this position she brought together a number of groups and government departments to support an operational plan to control invasive weeds and pests in the unique Upper Rangitata River braided river system. She was a member of the Aoraki Conservation Board and a Chair of the Lincoln University Foundation. She established the Peel Forest Plan and the Peel Forest Enhancement Group. She initiated the Geraldine Community Resource Centre Te Rito, which opened in 2007. She is a Lay Minister in the Geraldine Anglican Parish. Mrs Acland is a funeral celebrant and was the Geraldine High School Chaplain from 1999 to 2000. She is highly regarded in the Peel Forest area for her commitment to the community, and her ability as a communicator and leader.
