Mrs Kitty Chiu, QSM, Auckland.
For services to the community. Mrs Kitty Chiu founded and was Chair of the Evergreen Group, a Chinese elderly Catholic social group in 1998, and was a founding trustee of the Auckland Regional Migrant Services Charitable Trust in 2002. She was also a founding board member of the Chinese Positive Ageing Charitable Trust. She has been a member of the University of Auckland Human Participants Ethics Committee since 2008. She was the Associate Director and is now an Honorary Advisor for the Centre for Asian Health Research and Evaluation at the University of Auckland. She has been a volunteer for Hospice New Zealand since 1998. She was on the Executive Committee of Chinese Lifeline and was a member of the Counties Manukau Police Asian Advisory Committee. Mrs Chiu was a member of the Social Workers Registration Board from 2008 to 2011. She has been a Director of the East Health Trust Primary Healthcare Organisation since 2006, and was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 2008.
