Erin McMenamin, Lower Hutt, QSM, for services to the community
Ms Erin McMenamin is the founder of SuperGrans Aotearoa Inc, which provides home management training for low-income families across New Zealand. Ms McMenamin has established 15 branches of SuperGrans nationwide and has overseen the international spread of the initiative to Australia and England. She continues to work full time at SuperGrans Charitable Trust in Lower Hutt. She advised the Ministry of Social Development on the SuperGrans scheme, which led to the establishment of the SAGES initiative, a community-based mentoring programme providing home-management skills. She has volunteered at the Te Omanga Hospice and at a number of prisons, offering practical workshops. She has been treasurer of the Moera Community House, Titahi Western Trust, and Workers' Educational Associations. Ms McMenamin was Committee Chair of the Lower Hutt Community Organisational Grants Scheme for six years and remains an active member.
