In 1997 Mrs Janet Jensen was elected to the National Council of the Women’s Division Federated Farmers, later Rural Women New Zealand, and held this position for four years until 2001. Her strong interest in promoting health services for rural women and children led to her being a catalyst for the formation of the Rural Women New Zealand Health Committee and the National Homecare Committee. She was a trustee and secretary/treasurer of the Scotlands Te Kiteroa Trust, was President of the Methodist Women’s Fellowship in Morrinsville from 2004 to 2008, and is currently a member of the Waikato District Women’s Fellowship. Mrs Jensen was a founding member of the Morrinsville Community House, which opened in 1990, and was secretary/treasurer from 1993 to 2009.
