Malcolm Farry, CNZM, Dunedin.
For services to the community. Mr Malcolm Farry is the Chair of the Carisbrook Stadium Charitable Trust and is the driving force behind the development, fund raising, and construction of the Forsyth Barr Stadium, New Zealand’s first fully covered grass-based events centre. The stadium is one of the largest infrastructure projects to be undertaken in Dunedin and opened in 2011 in time for the Rugby World Cup. Mr Farry was a Dunedin City Councillor from 1998 to 2004 and in this role worked to foster relationships, between the University of Otago and Dunedin City Council. He was Director of Mercy Hospital Ltd where he worked to make the hospital a centre of excellence through his strong corporate governance. He has been Chair of the fund raising committee for the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, helping to raise money to complete a predator-proof fence. He has been Deputy Chair of the Otago Museum, and is Chair of the Otago Festival of the Arts. Mr Farry is Chair of the Otago Youth Wellness Trust, which provides services to at-risk youth from the ages of 11 to 18.
