Verna Stevens, Gore, QSM, for services to the RSA and the community
Mrs Verna Stevens has been associated with the Gore District Memorial RSA since 1978, and was responsible for the formation of the Welfare Group in 1993. She provides assistance to members spread over a large geographic area, stretching from Fortrose in the south to Te Anau in the north. She helps veterans with applications for War Pensions and organises day trips. Mrs Stevens has been involved with the Gore Multi Sports Complex, the Gore Stroke Club and the Senior Citizens Choir. In 2004, she was made a life member of the Gore District Memorial RSA and received the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association National Award.
