Queen's Altar Frontal presentation
The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand presented The Queen's Altar Frontal to St Faith's Anglican Church at Ohinemutu to recognise the gallantry of the late Lance Sergeant Haane Manahi during the Second World War. In 2007 the Duke of York presented three gifts to Te Arawa from Her Majesty to honour Lance Sergeant Manahi’s gallantry. Two of those gifts, a letter from The Queen and a sword, were presented at the ceremony in March 2007. However, an embroidered altar frontal was not available to be presented at the ceremony in 2007, as the intricate embroidery, by Jo Dixey, would take more than a year to complete. The Governor-General is pictured with Rebecca Kitteridge, Clerk of the Executive Council.
