Kerrin (Kerry) Marshall, QSM, Napier.
For services to pipe bands. Mr Kerry Marshall began piping at the age of 10. He started teaching others in his early twenties and has been tutoring ever since. He was the leader of the City of Napier number 2 band, which competed in regional and New Zealand national competitions. Twelve years ago he formed a new band, which has 25 players, and plays at more than 50 community events annually. He organises the band for ANZAC and Christmas parades. Recently his band combined with the Port of Napier Brass Band for a concert performance which raised over $10,000 for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. He is a supervisor for national contests for the Royal New Zealand Pipe Band Association, and is a member of the management board of the Association. Mr Marshall is a long-serving member of the Presbyterian Church, having been involved in many roles from Captain of the Boys' Brigade, to Session Clerk, and as a board member of Presbyterian Support East Coast.
