Nigel Latta, Auckland, ONZM, for services as a psychologist
Mr Nigel Latta has been a clinical and forensic psychologist for almost two decades and was appointed as an independent panellist on the review of the anti-smacking law in 2009. He has hosted several highly successful television series, including ‘The Politically Incorrect Parenting Show’ and ‘The Politically Incorrect Guide to Grown-ups’. He has been a consultant for a number of public and private organisations including social service agencies, offender treatment programmes, the Department of Corrections, the New Zealand Police and Child, Youth and Family. His 2003 book, ‘Into the Darklands’, inspired the documentary series ‘Beyond the Darklands’, which has been syndicated overseas, on the causes of crime and violence. He has published a number of practical parenting guides. Mr Latta has been a commentator and promoter of the findings of the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Research Unit Study.
