Sargeson Fellows
Award winning New Zealand writers, Brigid Lowry and Paula Morris, were formally celebrated as the 2008 Buddle Findlay Sargeson fellows on 19 May 2008. The event was hosted by the Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand and Mrs Susan Satyanand, and was attended by the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Helen Clark, friends and members of the Sargeson Trust, and Buddle Findlay partners and clients. Brigid Lowry took up residence in the Sargeson Centre, Auckland, in February and is nearing the end of her tenure, and Paula Morris begins hers in July. Both writers receive a $20,000 grant and will use the Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellowship to focus full-time on their writing and to complete literary projects. Celebrating before the reception were (from left) Barbara Clarke (Buddle Findlay National Marketing Manager), Ms Morris, Miss Clark, Mrs Satyanand, Ms Lowry, the Governor-General, Peter Chemis (Buddle Findlay National Chairman), Christine Cole-Catley (Chair, Sargeson Trust), Graeme Lay (Secretary, Sargeson Trust) and Elizabeth Aitken-Rose (Sargeson Trust).
