Passchendaele commemorations

The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, represented New Zealand at the 90th anniversary commemorations in Belgium of the Battle of Passchendaele. As a part of the commemorations on July 12, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Paola of Belgium officially opened a visitors centre at the Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery in the world. On July 13, the Governor-General and Mrs Satyanand visited the New Zealand Memorial at Mesen.
