James Fraser
Frances Fraser, wife of the Late Mr James Fraser, of Christchurch, received The Queen's Service Medal on his behalf, for services to the community. Mr Fraser was active as a volunteer in the Canterbury region for more than 50 years. He served on the national executive of the Royal New Zealand Pipe Band Association. He organised national and provincial contests and was the fundraiser and tour manager for the Canterbury Caledonian Societies Pipe Band. He has been president of the Canterbury Caledonian Society for 15 years, co-founded the Christchurch Chapter of the Clan Fraser Society, and was a member of the Scottish Heritage Council. He has organised international motocross competitions in the region. Mr Fraser was President of the Christchurch Ethnic Council, has presented a radio programme on Plains FM for 18 years, assisted with the annual collection for the Foundation of the Blind for 20 years, and has been involved with the community organisation grants scheme.
