Eamon Molloy
Father Michael Pui received The Queen's Service Medal awarded to the late Mr Eamon Molloy, of Christchurch for services to the ethnic community. Mr Molloy served the ethnic community and worked to improve the welfare of new immigrants in Christchurch for more than 50 years. He has supported many foreign students and migrants, including refugees and students from South-East Asia and China who have arrived in New Zealand. He has helped them to settle in New Zealand by finding them permanent accommodation and introducing them to the New Zealand way of life. He was instrumental in establishing orientation programmes for overseas students in the 1970s. He has also visited prisoners on a regular basis. He was active with the University of Canterbury Singapore Club and been an advisor to the Singapore Club of Christchurch. Mr Molloy has also been an active member of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
