Margaret Horsburgh CNZM
Dr Margaret Horsburgh, of Auckland, received the Insignia of a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to health. Dr Horsburgh was involved in tertiary education at a senior level at the Auckland University of Technology and the University of Auckland for more than 30 years where she played a national and regional role in advancing nursing education. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Nursing School at the University of Auckland, and was a founding Director and remains an Honorary Associate Professor of Nursing. The establishment of the Nursing School brought a new dimension of integration between nurses, doctors and pharmacists. She was appointed the inaugural Chair of the Nurse Practitioners Advisory Committee in 2001 and was a member of the Auckland District Health Board from 2000 to 2004..
