Maurice Mahoney
Maurice Mahoney, of Christchurch, received the Insignia of an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit for services to architecture. Mr Mahoney was a founding partner of the architectural partnership of Warren and Mahoney. Established in 1958, the partnership designed a number of iconic New Zealand buildings, including the Christchurch Town Hall and the Michael Fowler Centre. Mr Mahoney led many important projects including three hospitals, school buildings and government buildings in the Pacific, the Parkroyal Hotels in Christchurch and Queenstown, and the Canterbury Public Library. His last major project, the refurbishment of the New Zealand Parliament Buildings and the Parliamentary Library, won numerous awards.
