For services to Māori. Mrs Haua has been involved with Māori youth, especially through sport, and Māori women’s affairs on the North Shore for many years. She was involved with the establishment of the kōhanga reo in Bayswater, Birkenhead and Devonport. She helped to establish the Birkdale College Ex-Netball Club and is involved with North Harbour Māori Netball for girls and young women. She also assists with the organisation of the Iwi of Origin sports events. She aided the establishment of the Nga Whetu Marama Cultural Group and the Whare Wānanga at Birkdale College. She was a member of Te Raua Aroha, formed to support and advise the North Shore City Police, and Tu Tahi Tangata, which was formed to advise the Waitematā Police Commander. Mrs Haua received the North Harbour Sports Awards Services to Māori Sport in 2002.
