Laurence Zwimpfer, Wellington, MNZM
For services to information technology. Mr Zwimpfer has been involved in information and communication technology in a variety of ways for over 45 years. He has held a variety of roles with the 2020 Communications Trust for almost 15 years and is Chair of the Computer Access New Zealand Trust. He has been the driving force behind the Computers in Homes digital literacy programmes since its inception in 2000. He was responsible for establishing eDay, an annual collection of electronic equipment waste, and is Chair of the eDay trust which is working towards long-term sustainable solutions for e-waste. He was the communication and information commissioner for UNESCO in New Zealand for 9 years. Mr Zwimpfer is a fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand, a Fellow of Internet New Zealand and an honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Computer Society.
