Ani Wickliffe, Kawerau, QSM
For services to Māori. Mrs Wickliffe is of Ngāti Tuwharetoa descent and is an esteemed kaikaranga, or caller, on the Hahuru Marae near Kawerau. She was selected as the lead kaikaranga to attend ceremonies at six embassies overseas between 1999 and 2003, and has been the kaikaranga for Fletcher Challenge Paper, now Norske Skog Tasman, since 1992. She has been involved in the Ngāti Tuwharetoa Ki Kawerau Treaty of Waitangi claims and is a member of the Ngāti Tuwharetoa Ki Kawerau Rūnanga. She has a deep knowledge of the medicinal use of plants, mentors young Māori women in her kaikaranga role, and is involved in Māori Hauora which works towards improving the health of Māori families.
