Sandra McKersey, of Whangārei
Sandra McKersey received the Queen's Service Medal for services to education and the community. Mrs McKersey has been involved in education and with the community in Whangārei for many years. She established People Potential in 1991, which now provides educational opportunities for more than 300 Northlanders. She was President of the New Zealand Association of Private Education Providers, and established the Association’s Quality Commission to monitor the quality of the education students receive. She is also involved with Rotary and has held many offices within the international body. She is an international training leader and a board member of the Rotary New Zealand World Community Service, and is the national coordinator of Polio fundraising. Mrs McKersey was the first female Governor of a Rotary district in New Zealand and helped to establish the Whangārei Rotaract Club in 2008.
