Russell Hodges
The late Russell Hodges, of Winton, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. Mr Hodges' medal, was received by his wife, Joan Hodges. He had been involved in local sport, business and community organisations in the Winton area where he was well known for putting his energies into worthwhile community projects. He was a player, coach and referee for several sporting codes, and was a life member of several clubs. He served as a councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor of the former Winton Borough Council. More recently he was actively involved with the Order of St John, where he enthusiastically worked to establish a volunteer ambulance service. He chaired the Winton St John and was invested as an Officer of the Order in 2003.
