Ian Wedde
Ian Wedde, of Wellington, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to art and literature. Mr Wedde has been a prominent poet, writer, anthologist, critic and art curator for more than 40 years. He has published 14 collections of poems, while his work has also been published in journals such as Landfall. He co-edited The Penguin Book of New Zealand Verse, and was the General Editor of Ralph Hotere: Black Light. He curated and edited Fomison, What Shall We Tell Them? and Now See Hear! Art, Language and Translation. He has written a number of novels, and has also published two collections of essays and a book on the artist, Bill Cuthbert. Mr Wedde has won numerous awards including the Meridian Energy Katherine Mansfield Memorial Fellowship in 2005 and was named as an Arts Foundation of New Zealand Laureate in 2006.
