Allan Brodie, Nelson, MNZM
For services to volleyball. Mr Brodie has contributed to the sport of volleyball for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Tauranga Volleyball Club, where he organised the first National Beach Volleyball Tournament in 1979. He served on the New Zealand Federation of Volleyball Clubs management committee, and the Volleyball New Zealand Board, and since 1995 has been National President. For more than 10 years he has represented New Zealand at world volleyball congresses. In 2007 he was responsible for the re-introduction of the Commonwealth Volleyball Championships for Men. Mr Brodie has been instrumental in organising the Federation Internationale de Volleyball World Championships Qualifying Tournament, which was being held in New Zealand for the first time in 2009.
