John Henley
Associate Professor John Henley, of Auckland, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to medicine. Associate Professor Henley was an internal medicine specialist who worked at Auckland City Hospital for 40 years until 2008. He was involved in the development of the new Auckland City Hospital and in particular the development of the Assessment and Planning Unit. He was a member of the Auckland District Health Board Charitable Trust and a key fundraiser in the development of the Clinical Education Centre at the hospital. He was a clinical associate professor at the Auckland Medical School where he served as a role model and mentor for trainee doctors. He was a founding member of the Internal Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand.
