Elizabeth and William Grubb
Elizabeth and William Grubb of Timaru received the Queen’s Service Medal for services to drama, education, music and the community, on 5 September. Mrs Grubb is the head of the Mountainview High School drama department and was a consultant in Shakespearean studies for schools participating in the Sheilah Winn Festivals. She is a member of South Canterbury Drama, a founding member of the Association of New Zealand Drama Adjudicators and has served on the council of the Speech Communication Association of New Zealand. Mr Grubb is a well-known local musician and has assisted his wife’s endeavours, especially with the South Canterbury Drama League as a rehearsal pianist, a member of the orchestra, and as the secretary for the musical theatre section. He has been the voluntary organist at St Mary’s for more than 20 years, is a member of the Midland Masonic Lodge choir and the Phoenix Singers and is a member and the secretary of Alpine Timaru Brass. Mr Grubb is a founding member of the Aoraki Festival of the Arts and is involved with the Timaru District Choir among many organisations.
