For services to the community. Mrs Tedcastle was the driving force behind the establishment of the Eastern Bays Hospice Trust Board in 1992. She has served on the Hospices of Auckland executive as the Eastern Bays representative. She regularly volunteers at the Dove Shop, a second-hand shop she helped to establish to raise funds for Dove House, where she voluntarily works as a bereavement group facilitator. She recently received Plunket’s 30-year Long Service Award for her work for the Auckland East Branch and the Auckland Area Society of volunteer committees. She is a strong advocate for the Plunket Family Centre service. Since 1983, Mrs Tedcastle has been part of the National Council of Women Auckland Branch and is also part of the Committee of Pacific Women’s Watch. She is an elder of the St Heliers Presbyterian Church and Community Centre and a member of the Rotary Club of St Johns.
