Alan Warner
Alan Warner, of Remuera, received the Insignia of a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for services to water safety. Mr Warner has volunteered for water safety in New Zealand for more than 30 years working to reduce drowning and injury. He has been the Chairperson of the Water Safety New Zealand Board since 1996, where he was instrumental in securing additional funding. He established Drownbase, New Zealand’s integrated drowning database. He helped with the establishment of the New Zealand Drowning Prevention Strategy and is a member of the New Zealand Drowning Prevention Council. He was involved in the establishment of Swim For Life, the first major promotion of Learn to Swim. Mr Warner has been a member of the New Zealand Underwater Association since 1976 and was instrumental in setting up a new regime of diver training.
