Margaret Bowler, of Feilding
Margaret Bowler received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. Mrs Bowler established the Manawatu branch of New Zealand Riding for the Disabled Association in 1990 using her own property and horses. She served as branch Chairperson until recently and is now secretary-treasurer. She has devoted much energy to ensuring that children with disabilities can experience the joy of riding horses, while also building self-confidence and developing muscle control. She was instrumental in raising funds and developing a purpose-built venue with an indoor arena that opened in 2002. Mrs Bowler is also highly regarded for her involvement in other community activities such as the Feilding and Districts Historical Society, the Carriage Museum, the Feilding Pony Club and St Andrew’s Church, Colyton.
