Amanda Calder, Wellington, QSM
For services to the community. Ms Calder has worked to facilitate the successful settlement of refugees in New Zealand and has been an advocate for the refugee communities of Wellington. She has volunteered at the Wellington Community Law Centre for more than 13 years, and was instrumental in setting up the Refugee Immigration Legal Advice Service, of which she is their longest-serving volunteer advocate. Ms Calder also established and runs the Refugee Family Reunification Trust. The Trust provides funding for Immigration New Zealand application fees, medical checks, airfares for refugees, and has been instrumental in helping more than 320 refugees re-join their families. She has also worked extensively with ChangeMakers Refugee Forum, and the Wellington Refugees As Survivors Trust.
