Patrick Leonard, of Totara Park
Patrick Leonard received the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to sport, in particular boxing. Mr Leonard has been involved in boxing at a national level for more than 30 years and has held a number of executive positions with the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association. He is an international boxing judge and has encouraged association members to participate internationally. He is a life member of the association, was appointed as the New Zealand representative board member to the World Boxing Organisation in 2008, and became the regional supervisor for Australasia. He is also involved in hammer throwing and was the first thrower in the Northland district to become a member of the British Hammer Circle. Mr Leonard has coached and encouraged youth in athletics, is a Lions Club member, and is involved with the Jean Batten Primary School committee, and SeniorNet.
