Te Paea Dodd
Te Paea Dodd, of Mahia, received the Queen's Service Medal for services to Māori. Ms Dodd has been involved with Māori in the East Coast for more than 10 years. She is a respected kuia and is considered an expert on the history of the East Coast. She was instrumental in advocating for the return of the Rongomaiwahine iwi status to the people of Mahia. She is the kuia for the Te Mana Taiao O Rongomaiwahine committee of the Rongomaiwahine Iwi Trust and was involved in the Trust’s resource consents committee. She has worked with the Historic Places Trust to register wāhi tapu, ancient urupa, and other sites of historical significance.
