Graeme Williams
Colonel Graeme Williams, of Auckland, received the Insignia of an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to the New Zealand Defence Force. Colonel Williams, pictured with Major General Rhys Jones, Chief of Army, has served in the New Zealand Army since 1972, in a variety of regimental, staff and training appointments, including two postings with the New Zealand Special Air Service. He has undertaken peacekeeping duties, including to the Commonwealth Monitoring Force Rhodesia, the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation in the Middle East and with the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo. He has served with distinction in all these missions, including as the UN chief military liaison officer in Timor-Leste from 2006 to 2008, where he was responsible for the command and leadership of the multi-national observer contingent and the local and international support staff.
