Michelle Kidd, of Mount Roskill
Michelle Kidd received the Queen's Service Medal for services to the community. Ms Kidd, a fluent speaker of te Reo, has been a voluntary court attendant in the Auckland District Court for many years. She works for the Methodist Mission Northern, now known as Lifewise, most weekdays as Te Kaihono ki te Rangimarie (social worker), assisting defendants, victims and their families. She helps people prepare for court appearances, provides them with food and accommodation at the Mission, cares for children while people make their court appearance and, where necessary, deals with funeral arrangements. She makes herself available at all times to assist Auckland’s homeless people.
