Wing Commander Brendon Pett, Royal New Zealand Air Force, of Whenuapai
Wing Commander Brendon Pett received the Distinguished Service Decoration for services to the New Zealand Defence Force. Wing Commander Pett was posted as the first Commanding Officer of the Integrated Mission Support Squadron in 2007 with the task of providing software, simulation and mission support to the upgraded P-3K Orion aircraft. This quickly expanded to include support to all Royal New Zealand Air Force operational squadrons and the capability to support the introduction of new or upgraded aircraft. He assumed the role of Intelligence Trade Sponsor, where he oversaw the formation of a new trade structure, implemented trade training and managed intelligence personnel. This included a project which allows the P-3K Orion to seamlessly transfer intelligence information within the New Zealand Defence Force and across other government agencies. Wing Commander Pett's work with the Integrated Mission Support Squadron has meant it is now seen as the centre of excellence for mission support in the Air Force.
