Nicholas Perry, Wellington, MNZM
For services to the New Zealand Police. Detective Superintendent Perry has served in the Police since 1970. During his career, he has worked in the general and criminal investigation branches, including as Southern District commander and national manager of Crime Services. His achievements have included establishing Māori Advisory Groups at Otakou and Murihiku, creating Iwi liaison roles, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Murihiku Runanga in 2002. He established a strategic partnership with the University of Otago for the leadership development of middle and senior supervisors and was head of Operation Austin, which investigated allegations of sexual abuse against former and serving police officers.
