Clive Geddes, Queenstown, QSO
For services to local body affairs. Mr Geddes was Mayor of Queenstown Lakes District for nine years to 2010. Mr Geddes led the district through a period of massive expansion, with major private and public construction and infrastructure projects completed to meet its growing population. At the same time the council has, through community consultation, completed growth management, transportation, waste minimisation, urban design, business district, recreation and social strategies. Implementation of these has created a successful Trails Trusts, a Community Housing Trust, an expanded public transport network and urban design panels. They also led to enhanced parks and reserves and new community aquatic facilities, refurbished business districts along with reinforced protection for the district’s natural landscapes.
