For services to the community. Mrs MacDonald has worked to support grieving families in northern Southland through voluntary roles in the Cancer Society and Southland Hospice for more than 20 years. As a member of the Fiordland Health Trust she has been a key fundraiser for the construction of a new medical centre in Te Anau. She was instrumental in the inclusion of a viewing room in the medical centre, a space where families can spend time with a recently deceased family member.
