Ms Lilian (Jeanne) Biddulph, of Hamilton, MNZM for services to literacy education
Ms Biddulph has been a primary school teacher, a reading adviser, and a teacher educator at the Christchurch College of Education and the University of Waikato, and she is currently an educational consultant. She developed the workshop programmes ‘Reading Together’ and ‘Early Reading Together’, which help families support reading for school-aged children and language and literacy learning for younger children. She supported the Ministry of Education’s ‘Reading Together’ Project, which involved 30,000 families and 900 schools. She has served on national advisory committees and contributed to seminars and conferences. Ms Biddulph has a number of publications in literacy education and has co-authored 36 science books for children.
