Associate Professor Rob Jacobs, of Auckland, MNZM, for services to optometry and education
Associate Professor Jacobs has been a key contributor to New Zealand Optometric Education. He helped design a curriculum that allows Optometrists to prescribe medicines to treat a wide range of eye conditions. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles, held dozens of peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and published a textbook on Ocular Prosthetics. He has advised the New Zealand Police and the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand and served as an expert witness in District Courts and the Supreme Court. Associate Professor Jacobs is the past academic director and head of the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Auckland.
