Marama Mullen-Tamati, of Tirau, for services to people with HIV and AIDS
Ms Mullen-Tamati has lived with HIV for 24 years. A trained AIDS Ambassador, she co-founded the INA (Māori, Indigenous & South Pacific) HIV/AIDS Foundation, where she is Executive Director. INA provides support, counselling, referrals and social work, as well as taking part in HIV discussion and policy, nationally and internationally. It also provides education and support services for tuberculosis. Ms Mullen-Tamati has spoken at international conferences and is currently on the Conference Coordinating Committee for next year’s International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam. She Chairs the International Council of AIDs Service Organisations, the International Indigenous HIV and AID Community, and the International Community of Women living with HIV Global steering committee
